I had lived in Beijing for one year when I was introduced to the CAMIC by a French friend of mine. I had been teaching English full time for one year, so my opportunity for speaking/learning Chinese was limited. I had tried to study on my own, but there was only so much I could do beyond simple conversations.
After studying only one semester at CAMIC, I was able to have conversations with many Chinese on a wide range of topics. I like studying at the CAMIC for a number of reasons.
One is the program of study, using the most reacting and innovative texts, there is a good balance between oral, written, and reading work.
Secondly, the administration and the teachers are flexible and open to new ideas. Not to mention the concern of the teachers and their friendliness, I have often used time outside of class to get extra instruction from my teachers.
Thirdly, I've met a diverse range of interesting people while studying here, students come from all over the world. I've made friends from Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Mongolia, France, German, and of course, the US.
If you choose CAMIC over other institutes in Beijing, you won't be disappointed. The experience is good and the price is right. See you soon!
